After rehearsing THE PRINCES OF KINGS ROAD for a couple weeks in our rehearsal space with chairs, we finally brought in the set.  The play moves closer to a reality.

Now, the actors – John Nielsen, Heather Robinson and Ray Xifo – have more to do: continue learning their lines and now finding their places in the geography of the play.  It’s like whistling and chewing gum. I don’t know how they do it.

What I love about their work is the search.  Each time they run through it, they try different things, experiment with different readings.

Being the control freak that I am, I have to go against my instincts to control and let them search and discover; and much to my surprise, I’m delighting in their process.  They take the characters to places I’d never considered.

Each day we get closer.  Each day we get better.  Each day is a gift.
