A NEW CHARACTER ENTERS THE MIX

The set.  1953.  Cedars of Lebanon Hospital.  Los Angeles.

We’ve been rehearsing in chairs.  For two weeks.   Not worrying too much about the blocking, i.e. moving around the stage.  Getting the script down.

Now, we’ve moved in the sets.  Beds, tables, a hospital room.  It adds a whole new element.  The play is being realized.  The actors are getting used to the reality of the sets, getting their geography down.

The set adds a whole new dimension, like adding 3-D.  The actors are getting a chance to live in the set, to get comfortable, to be able to internalize the space.

In terms of performance, the actors are nuancing, finding their levels, fine tuning.

We open September 12.

We’re selling tickets, we’re finessing the performances.

We’re on our way.
