ANOTHER MAJOR MISTAKE BY SCREENWRITERS

One of the common blunders inexperienced screenwriters make is they show their work before it’s ready.

Too many screenwriters send out their scripts ‘before the ink has a chance to dry’ as we used to say. (Ink, by the way, was the colored liquid used in a writing instrument called a fountain pen)

Just because it’s on paper, doesn’t mean your script is ready to be read.

You should rewrite it a ton before anyone reads it.

The bottom line is: sending your work out prematurely is a disservice to the writing, because it’s so raw and undeveloped.

It’s also disrespectful to the reader, because the writing isn’t ready…and it’s going to change a ton before you write FADE OUT.

Writing is rewriting. It’s worth repeating: WRITING IS REWRITING!
