COACHING THE KNICKS AND DIRECTING ‘THE PRINCES OF KINGS ROAD — THE SAME THING

From the New York Times: “Derek Fisher indicated that his new way of coaching…was partly designed to give his players more freedom and more of a sense of responsibility. The game does not always need to be so rigid, Fisher said. Indeed, there were many possessions last season during which the Knicks appeared to be methodically working through the steps of their offense without even looking at the basket.

“I think every coach in every sport is trying to find ways to structure efficient practices and not have guys feel like they’re being over taught,” Fisher said. “That’s the No. 1 priority for us, to make sure that when we’re on the court and we’re in between the lines that we’re creating an environment where guys are working hard, where there’s passion and enthusiasm for what we’re doing.”

He’d make a good director.
